i dont pretend to know much about australian politics
as soon as i learnt that you get FINED and even jailed for not voting i ceased to have any interest in a decidedly un-democratic process.

however im so glad that howards near 12 year reign of stupidity has finally ended and kevin rudd and labor are in.

im not denying that howard did some good things, opening free trade with america one of the truely awesome things he did, however his hardline stance of kissing george bush's ass has ALWAYS annoyed me and so i have never supported him.

Now we get to see how a different government runs the country
i just REALLY hope Rudd can deliver on some of the cool things hes promised and doesnt do a typical political backflip now hes in power

Yeah.. it was actually rather interesting to watch sections of the election coverage last night. THe end of an era for sure.

Howard might even loose his own seat! So that means he will be out of a job! LOL
it's like the voters put an additional "fuck you" to him when they gave the reigns over to Rudd.

However:
  • Even if howard retires tomorrow, he'll have a pollie pension of about $150,000 a year for life and a super payout of millions. I doubt he will be "suffering".
  • And his lifeless dipshit accountant Peter Costello FINALLY gets his hands on the liberals top job JUST as they go into opposition. LOL... classic timing.
  • And time will tell if Rudd ends being good or just krudd. He has a chance. Hopefully he won't stuff it up.

On a side note the Australian Democrats have been completely wiped out.

All I have to say is:
